On this site
The site has no reader accounts, newsletter form or advertising pixel. Search uses a public article index in your browser. The capacity illustration runs locally and does not transmit entered watt values.
The hosting provider processes standard request information, such as IP address and browser details, to operate and secure the site. Our measurement database does not store these fields.
Optional measurement
Measurement is off until you choose “Allow measurement.” You can decline, or change your choice using “Measurement settings” in the footer. We honor browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. Declining leaves the articles and links available.
If you opt in on a review page, we use a random first-party session cookie for 30 minutes. It is shared across tabs on the same hostname. This temporary pseudonymous identifier lets us count an eligible review session once and determine whether it included a reader-activated retailer link. It does not prove a purchase or successful arrival at a retailer.
We store a hash of the random identifier, session start and expiry, measurement version, entry article, and whether a retailer link was activated, with that article and button location. We do not store your name, email, IP address, full browser details, search input, watt input, referrer or browsing history in this database. The current phase is a baseline; no randomized variant is active.
Session records older than 30 days are deleted on the next measurement enrollment or owner report. Daily totals contain no session identifiers and are removed after 13 months on that same cleanup cycle. Turning measurement off stops collection, clears the cookie and removes its session record when the request succeeds. Existing daily totals remain aggregated. Your allow/decline choice stays in your browser’s local storage until you change it or clear site data.
Only the site owner can view the measurement report. We do not sell this data or send the measurement records to Amazon. Consent, browser settings, blocked requests and bot filtering limit the completeness of these counts.
